Service Description

Helen grew up in the West Country, where she also grew a love for wild, beautiful places and tasty food. Her mother died of cancer at a young age leaving her to figure out what the God who heals (the one she’d been introduced to) was really all about. She was part of the first generation in the family to go to University where she studied Medicine (Bristol), later working as a doctor in rural Africa before completing her GP training in the UK. Now, a GP for 20 years with particular interests in palliative care and women’s health, she continually learns the art and science of being a good, compassionate & effective healer. She is passionate about motivating people to live long and live well, bringing positive influence to her bit of the world in 10 minute chunks, aka the GP appointment! She hasn’t written a book, started a charity or broken any world records.. but like lots of women today she juggles work, family, ministry, hormones, aging relatives, cultural changes, and the often confusing minefield of health information on nutrition & exercise that’s out there. Within all that life involves for us as women, she believes that following Jesus makes our very ‘ordinary’ lives extraordinarily beautiful. She is married to Edward, a local business leader and has 2 children who are 10 & 8. Favourite kind of day? Well, she loves a good walk (or run if feeling a bit fitter), ideally by the sea, followed by a simple but delicious meal and glass of wine with friends!
